You control climate change

The European Commission has launched a campaign to build public awareness of climate change. Using the slogan "You control climate change", the campaign encourages citizens to adopt certain everyday habits to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The campaign which kicked off on 29 May 2006 encourages the public to sort waste, leave the car in the garage, use public transport, not to leave electrical devices switched on, and so on. In short: "turn down, switch off, recycle, walk".

A great video for information about how one can involve in helping climate change.

What is Climate Change ??

This is amazing video showing what are the effects of climate change. What are the possible effects of climate change. We should do something to save environment.

Travel Smart

Some of the countries such as Australia have started various type of campaign to reduce amount of pollution. In Australia there is a state SOUTH AUSTRALIA, they have started Travel Smart plan. Travel Smart is a state government initiative and works closely with other government agencies, including the Australian Greenhouse Office, local government, workplaces and community groups to encourage travel behaviour change in the everyday lives of South Australians.

In this state, almost everyone is involved in some form of travel everyday - whether it is going to school, work, the shops, health services, the cinema or a sports match. These figures may surprise you, but did you know that:

  • South Australians produce nearly 30 million tonnes of greenhouse gases every year 1
  • each one of us contributes around 20 tonnes of greenhouse gases a year 1
  • transport accounts for 14% of the emissions 2
  • Australians drove more than 200 billion kilometres in 2003 2
  • Personal travel accounts for 34% of overall household greenhouse emissions. 3

To reduce the impact of these factors, individuals, households and businesses can make a BIG difference by making small sustainable changes in their travel behaviour, such as:

  • think about and plan your travel in advance
  • walk, cycle or catch public transport where possible
  • choose shops and facilities in your local area and support your local community to reduce travel
  • increase your physical activity by incorporating walking or cycling into your travel routine

Blackle its search engine specially for green products. If you are doing business related to green products or environment saving products and if you have website you can add to blackle search engine for free.

According to Google data every white web page uses about 74 watts to display. Google gets 200 million queries a day. Google Blackle has black screen and it saves global savings of 8.3 Megawatt-hours per day and 750 Megawatt-hours a year. Which is massive.

Thats why I have black screen on my blog and computer. You can also take initiative and try to keep your computer screen black.

My Best Recycling Idea

Besides recycling the plastic containers, you can improve your work or home environments by bringing live potted plants indoors.

Here's procedure :

Major items needed:
One empty plastic gallon container. Tree Top Apple Juice is preferred, or equal in shape. One empty plastic ½ gallon container. Langers All Pomergranate Juice is preferred or equal.

Directions:
Lay the plastic gallon container on its side so the front label is facing up. Place the empty plastic half gallon container on the label and with a sharpie pen outline the bottom on the Tree Top label and with a sharp knife carefully cut the outline. Insert the half gallon into the hole until it rest on the back label of the gallon container. Then mark and cut approximately one inch above the cut on the ½ gallon to complete your planter container. Remove and drill several ¼ inch holes on the bottom of the ½ gallon cut container for drainage.

Fill the cut ½ gallon planter with one inch of gravel before putting in good potting mix soil and live growing plant. If you make two or more you can pour the water back and forth and not waste the water with the nutrients.

Its really great idea. You can try this at your home or office and add your part to save planet.

Save Water.. Save Life.

You all know about water crisis in world. I have few ideas and I am sharing with you. Let start with kitchen, Try to avoid dish washer wash dishes from your hand, be careful don't leave water running when you are washing dishes. You can save recycled water in bucker and wash vegetables and fruits from that.

Let start with kitchen, Try to avoid dish washer wash dishes from your hand, be careful don't leave water running when you are washing dishes. You can save recycled water in bucker and wash vegetables and fruits from that.

Careful Washing of clothes is important too. Try to save soapy and bubbly water and use it in your garden. Reduce outside watering from fresh water. Don’t leave garden hosepipe running. One more important thing, you can wash your car with soapy and bubbly water.

Take 4 min bath. Limit your time while having shower to soap up and rinse off. Use water saving shower head, it saves roughly 30% water. Just for your knowledge if you have instant gas heater then those water saving shower head won’t work well.

First Step Towards Living GREEN

Hi Guys,
There are some simple steps and we can try our best to save our planet. First of all about electricity. As you know, all energy companies generate electricity from coal. But many countries have started to make 'Green Electricity'. Its 20% accredited renewable energy where 20% of your consumption make from renewable sources such as air and water. In some cities its little bit costly but some provide it for free. If green electricity is available in you country then join for that. If you have a garden then plant more trees and start to use renewable sources. A positive step from one person can help to change climate.

Alternatively, you can start to use 'Energy Saving Light Bulbs'.
Yes, It work same as normal light globe. Turn on and off immediately. Normal light globe have filament in it, which heats and gives us light. IT uses much electricity. In energy efficient light globe it has gas in its tubes, which heats and with UV rays it gives us light. which do not use much electricity, So we can save up to 10% on our electricity bills. Isn't it amazing?
