You control climate change

The European Commission has launched a campaign to build public awareness of climate change. Using the slogan "You control climate change", the campaign encourages citizens to adopt certain everyday habits to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The campaign which kicked off on 29 May 2006 encourages the public to sort waste, leave the car in the garage, use public transport, not to leave electrical devices switched on, and so on. In short: "turn down, switch off, recycle, walk".

A great video for information about how one can involve in helping climate change.

What is Climate Change ??

This is amazing video showing what are the effects of climate change. What are the possible effects of climate change. We should do something to save environment.

Travel Smart

Some of the countries such as Australia have started various type of campaign to reduce amount of pollution. In Australia there is a state SOUTH AUSTRALIA, they have started Travel Smart plan. Travel Smart is a state government initiative and works closely with other government agencies, including the Australian Greenhouse Office, local government, workplaces and community groups to encourage travel behaviour change in the everyday lives of South Australians.

In this state, almost everyone is involved in some form of travel everyday - whether it is going to school, work, the shops, health services, the cinema or a sports match. These figures may surprise you, but did you know that:

  • South Australians produce nearly 30 million tonnes of greenhouse gases every year 1
  • each one of us contributes around 20 tonnes of greenhouse gases a year 1
  • transport accounts for 14% of the emissions 2
  • Australians drove more than 200 billion kilometres in 2003 2
  • Personal travel accounts for 34% of overall household greenhouse emissions. 3

To reduce the impact of these factors, individuals, households and businesses can make a BIG difference by making small sustainable changes in their travel behaviour, such as:

  • think about and plan your travel in advance
  • walk, cycle or catch public transport where possible
  • choose shops and facilities in your local area and support your local community to reduce travel
  • increase your physical activity by incorporating walking or cycling into your travel routine
